The International Health Division of IHCS continues to provide consultancy services in Australasia, Oceania, and Africa, covering a wide selection of services in the Family Health arena. These services range from Policy and Planning Development, Capacity Building and Infrastructure Strengthening, to Developing, Implementing, Monitoring and Evaluating effective Health Programs across the full scope of Preventive, Promotive and Curative Services.

Support to the Implementation of the Health Sector Investment Program – East Timor

IHCS provided a consultant to undertake the role of Team Leader and Public Health Specialist for the World Bank and European Union funded Support to the Implementation of the Health Sector Invest Program in Timor-Leste (East Timor).

The program aimed to improve availability, accessibility and affordability of health services to all people of East Timor, and to improve participation of the community and other stakeholders (including other sectors) in health related decision making.  This took place in a post-conflict and continuing-conflict situation.    More

 

Recently completed activities of the International Health Division include

Health Services Evaluation and Quality Improvement – Federated States of Micronesia

IHCS provided a consultant to undertake a comprehensive evaluation of the effectiveness of existing primary care systems and expansion plans in all four states.  Specific emphasis was on dispensaries, community health centres and rural health, and covered the following areas: dispensary staffing; communications; referrals; infrastructure; transportation; the procurement and distribution of medicines and other essential supplies; and new and in-service training.    More

Development of Standards, Competencies & Qualifications for Nurse Practitioners - Australasia

IHCS provided Project Management for a consultancy to report on the development, progress and description of the role of Nurse Practitioners in Australia and New Zealand and to develop a set of core competency standards for Nurse Practitioners.  In addition the consultancy developed approved Trans-Tasman standards for education that can be applied in the accreditation of courses leading to a qualification for recognised Nurse Practitioners in both countries.
